"Darbhanga House is a palatial building situated right on banks of river Ganga. Built for personal use of erstwhile Maharaj of Darbhanga. That's how it's got name Darbhanga House. Presently housing History, Hindi, Bangla, Sanskrit and many more Department of Patna University. It also had an attached garden to it. Darbhanga house ghat is now called Kalighat named after personal deity temple (Kali Temple) which is situated in the palace. Currently in depleted condition, looking at it's architecture one can feel that this building must have had a glorious past in it's heydays. It's painful to see current unkempt state of the buiding. PU should pay attention to upkeep of this gem of a building retaining original architectural plan. Even students, teachers and visitors should respect this treasure, use it without causing any further damage and help the PU to keep it maintained."
