Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the Pelling Skywalk for its thrilling glass-bottomed experience and breathtaking views of the Himalayas, especially Kanchenjunga. The affordable entry and family-friendly nature are major pluses, though some note the 'skywalk' aspect is more of a viewpoint. Occasional fog can obscure views, and slippery conditions during rain require caution.

"It was good During Durga Puja Navami initially the police weren't allowing us to go up the jeep charged us Rs500 there the ticket is only Rs 30 per person There are both staircases and slopes paved for tourists so even if u go up to the sky walk or further up to the monastery it won't be difficult even for a person on wheel chair can access. It's a beautiful view u have to take off ur shoes . Also during rains it becomes slippery so u need to tread properly. The Buddhist monks maintain it and is very clean"

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

The Thrill of the Pelling Skywalk

The Pelling Skywalk is a relatively new attraction that has quickly become a must-visit in Sikkim. This unique structure features a glass-bottomed walkway suspended high above the valley, offering an exhilarating experience of literally walking on air. The transparent floor provides a dizzying yet spectacular view of the landscape below, making it a popular spot for adventure seekers and photographers alike. TikTokInstagram

The Skywalk is designed to blend adventure with spirituality. Adjacent to it is the impressive Chenrezig statue, adding a serene element to the otherwise thrilling experience. Visitors are required to remove their shoes before stepping onto the glass, ensuring its pristine condition and safety. Reddit While the primary draw is the walk itself, the surrounding panoramic views of the Himalayan range, particularly Mount Kanchenjunga, are equally captivating. InstagramReddit

It's important to note that while the Skywalk is a highlight, some visitors feel the 'skywalk' aspect itself could be more extensive, with the main appeal often being the incredible viewpoint it offers. Instagram Nevertheless, the combination of the unique walkway, the spiritual ambiance, and the majestic mountain vistas makes it an unforgettable attraction. Reddit

Capturing the Majestic Kanchenjunga

The Pelling View Point is renowned for its unobstructed vistas of Mount Kanchenjunga, the third-highest mountain in the world. On a clear day, the snow-capped peaks present a breathtaking spectacle that draws visitors from far and wide. The best times to witness this grandeur are typically early mornings when the sky is often clearest, and late afternoons during the golden hour, which bathes the mountains in a warm, ethereal light. InstagramReddit

Photography enthusiasts will find Pelling a paradise. The panoramic scenery offers endless opportunities for stunning shots. However, the weather in the Himalayas can be unpredictable. Fog and clouds are common, especially during the monsoon season, which can obscure the mountain views. Instagram Visitors are advised to check the weather forecast and be prepared for potential changes. Even if the mountains are hidden, the misty landscapes can offer a different, atmospheric kind of beauty. Instagram

To make the most of your photography experience, consider using a wide-angle lens to capture the vastness of the landscape and the Skywalk. A telephoto lens can be useful for isolating details of the distant peaks. Remember to bring a polarizing filter to enhance the contrast and colors of the sky and mountains. Instagram Patience is key; sometimes waiting for a brief clearing in the clouds can reward you with an unforgettable view. Reddit

Navigating Pelling's High-Altitude Terrain

Pelling is situated at a high altitude, and its attractions are spread across various elevated points. While the Pelling Skywalk itself is designed for accessibility, reaching it and other viewpoints can involve navigating steep and winding roads. Visitors traveling by their own vehicles are advised to be aware of the challenging terrain. Reddit

These drivers are experienced with the local routes and can safely transport you to the various viewpoints. Some accommodations, like the Airbnb mentioned, might be located a bit further out, around 10 km from the main center, offering a more secluded experience but requiring transport arrangements. Instagram

While the Skywalk area has paved paths and slopes, making it manageable for most, the overall experience of exploring Pelling involves embracing its mountainous geography. Comfortable walking shoes are a must, and being prepared for inclines will enhance your visit. Reddit
