"One of the best experience when visiting Sikkim was the trip to Phodong Monastery. It's about an hour drive from Gangtok, through a scenic route but slightly bad roads. The Monastery is beautiful , has a great view of the mountain ranges and the prayer chants makes it a wonderful visit. There was a hail storm when we visited , we halted there for sometime until the storm cleared and the view after that was dramatic and exciting. It's recommended only for those who love to visit calm and quiet places to get some peace and there are less tourists here usually."
