This ancient temple used to exist next to the Jesuit church on Mission street where Mission press currently stands. It was destroyed during the siege of Pondicherry on 8th Sep 1748 on orders of Governor Dupleix to appease the Jesuit fathers. It was later rebuilt in its present location after 1750.
