Reviews Summary
Empress Botanical Garden is a beloved green lung in Pune, praised for its ancient trees, diverse flora, and affordable entry. Visitors appreciate the serene atmosphere, especially on weekdays, and the family-friendly amenities like the play area. However, some reviews point out that certain areas could benefit from better maintenance and signage, and the garden can get quite crowded during special events like the flower show.
"The park isn’t easily walkable as there are no footpaths on the road. However, the vehicle traffic is low so it’s manageable. The garden itself is pleasant. For just 20 rupees entrance fee the experience is nice (parking is separate). The botanical garden should get more support as there’s so much more scope for improvement. Most of the walkable path becomes wet mud after light rains, fountain isn’t working, the waterways are mostly dry. However, there are a nice variety of plants in the exhibition. There is a center for environment and arts in the same compound. Its architecture nicely blends with nature, however, I think it’s not managed to its full capacity. It had a nice water exhibition when I visited.
Amenities in the garden include children’s play area, seating spaces, public toilets, a budget canteen, ice cream and snacks place, and even some horse riding experience."

"I would rate this place average. I visited this place for a flower festival in 2025, and it was overcrowded. There are good flowers and plants; however, I could see more food stalls, food vendors, other home decorative stalls, and children's playgrounds with lots of rides than flowers. People were more attracted to such things rather than embracing nature. The entry fee is Rs 60 for this festival. 😐🌸🌷 Festival, Flowers, Plants, Food, Crowds, EntryFee. #FlowerFestival #Overcrowded #Nature"

"A green paradise in Pune! Empress Garden is a serene escape brimming with lush lawns, vibrant flowerbeds, and towering trees that offer respite from the city’s hustle. The meticulously maintained gardens, especially the enchanting rose section and seasonal blooms, are a visual treat. Perfect for family picnics, leisurely strolls, or simply unwinding with a book under shady canopies. The butterfly garden and birdlife add to its charm. Clean pathways, ample seating, and a calming ambiance make it ideal for nature lovers and photographers. Don’t miss the annual flower shows – they’re spectacular! 🌹🌳🦋Pro tip: Visit on weekdays for a quieter experience!"
