Reviews Summary

Pushkar is lauded for its profound spiritual ambiance and the serene beauty of its sacred lake and numerous temples. Visitors appreciate the vibrant market, the unique cultural experience, and the town's strictly vegetarian and peaceful nature. However, some reviews mention that cleanliness could be improved, and navigating the narrow, crowded streets requires awareness.

"There is something mysterious in the air of pushkar - spirituality is found here in abundance.

Only thing about the cleanliness - things have improved since my last visit but miles to go.

Lots of hip cafes in the vicinity overlooking the holy waters. Great place for meditation - great place for finding solitude and inner peace"

"Pushkar Lake or Pushkar Sarovar is located in the town of Pushkar near Ajmer city in Ajmer district of the Rajasthan state of western India. Pushkar Lake is a sacred lake of the Hindus. There are more than 500 temples around the lake. There is a Pushkar fair too. Lot of devotees come nd bathe in the holy waters especially on Kartik poornima. We walked through the temple area and the crowded market. It’s not best and the roads are indvsb. Small gullies and you need to be careful. Know your way around. We dropped by from the small desert round on a camel. Evening time was great.
The Hindu scriptures describe it as "Tirtha-Guru" [Thirtha Raj]– the perceptor of pilgrimage sites related to a water-body and relate it to the mythology of the creator-god Brahma, whose most prominent temple stands in Pushkar."
