"🛕🌿 Sirpur – The Lost Heritage City of Chhattisgarh
Sirpur, located on the banks of the Mahanadi River in Mahasamund district, is one of the most historically rich and spiritually significant places in Chhattisgarh. About 80 km from Raipur, this ancient town was once a major center of learning, art, religion, and culture during the 6th to 10th century CE.
Historically known as Shripur, the city served as the capital of the South Kosala kingdom under the rule of the Somvanshi kings. Sirpur flourished as a center for Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism — making it a rare place of religious harmony and diversity in ancient India.
