"I recently had the opportunity to visit Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, and it was truly a memorable experience. Nestled in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas near Siliguri, this sanctuary offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, peace, and wildlife diversity. The dense forests, winding trails, and panoramic views from Latpanchar were breathtaking.
As a bird enthusiast, I was thrilled to spot over 45 bird species during my trip, including the majestic great hornbill, oriental pied hornbill, minivets, and sunbirds. The sanctuary is a paradise for birdwatchers, especially early in the morning."

"While the location is a little tricky to find, even with Google Maps, the ample parking space is a definite plus.
Stepping inside feels like entering a sanctuary, a welcome escape from the city's noise and pollution. The bamboo museum, housed in a charming cottage made of wood and bamboo, showcases a diverse collection of herbs and bamboo varieties. The staff are incredibly friendly and enjoy engaging in conversation.
The adjacent wildlife museum, though small, features animals and birds native to the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary. Unfortunately, the bus safari wasn't running during our visit in March 2025, but I was informed that a safe bus safari will be reintroduced in the future.
Remember, private vehicles are not permitted for the safari.
This place is super fun for kids! Just be aware that there are no restaurants or eateries within the museum premises."
