What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Thenmala Ecotourism is praised for its serene natural beauty, offering a peaceful escape amidst the Western Ghats. Visitors appreciate the blend of adventure activities and tranquil spots, making it suitable for families and nature lovers alike. However, some areas, particularly the children's park and butterfly park, could benefit from improved maintenance.
"Visiting Thenmala Ecotourism was an unforgettable experience — truly one of the finest places I have visited in Kerala. Nestled amidst the lush greenery of the Western Ghats, the setting feels calm, serene and beautifully natural. The air is fresh, the surroundings silent, and you immediately sense how far removed you are from city life.
The scenic beauty of the forest, the tranquil waters of the reservoir, and the harmonious blend of nature and thoughtful eco-tourism make Thenmala a perfect escape. There are plenty of adventures on offer if you choose — from gentle treks and boating to exploring forest trails and wildlife zones — yet there are also quiet corners where you can simply sit back and soak in the peace.
Whether you are a nature lover, an adventure seeker or someone just longing for rest and quiet, Thenmala delivers. It’s a place where nature’s beauty and tranquility meet thoughtful design — ideal for a rejuvenating getaway.
Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind, reconnect with nature and enjoy a beautifully calm retreat."

"A good destination to plan a day out with family. It has multiple facilities to keep us engaged for a full day. They have a car parking facility which can accommodate few cars. However parking would not be problem as cars can parked even by the roadside. The ticket rates are reasonable, and they accept UPI transactions. They have a children's park and butterfly park, which would be of interest to the children. A toy train is also available. The deer rehabilitation centre and leisure zone with dam view provides a nature walk. Few activities including boating, roap climbing, shooting, roap way, are available in the adventure zone.
Few shops are available near the ticket counter which sell essentials like water, snacks etc. A restaurant is also available inside the campus.
Though enormous area is available, a serious lack of proper maintenance or adequate upgradation was felt.
Overall it was a very refreshing experience."

"Thenmala Ecotourism offers a variety of activities for visitors. There is an entry fee, and each activity requires an additional charge. At the ticket counter, we were informed that the butterfly park currently has very few butterflies, so we decided to skip it. We then visited the children’s park, which has a toy train for kids available for an extra fee. Unfortunately, the park was not well maintained — many sculptures were damaged, the paint was fading, and several installations were in poor condition.
The musical fountain, however, was pleasant and stood out as one of the better attractions. Overall, the place has great potential but would benefit significantly from better maintenance and upkeep."
