* Presiding Deities: The main deity is Lord Shiva, worshipped as Kailasanathar (also Kailasanathaswamy), and his consort is Goddess Periyanayaki (or Brihannayaki Ambal). The temple is famous for the separate shrine of Chandra Bhagwan.
* Parikara Sthalam: Devotees visit here to seek relief from Chandra Dosha (afflictions caused by the Moon in astrology) to gain mental peace, clarity, and well-being.
History and Legend
* Builder: The original structure is believed to have been built by the Chola kings, with later masonry work and renovations by the Nayak rulers in the 16th century.
* Legend of Chandra: According to the Sthala Puranam, Chandra (Moon) married 27 daughters of Daksha Prajapati but showed undue preference for one, Rohini. This led to a curse from Daksha that made Chandra lose his luster (the waxing and waning). Chandra performed a severe penance on Lord Shiva at this spot and was relieved of his curse, regaining his brightness. As a mark of his gratitude, Chandra is believed to have worshipped Shiva here.
* Nayanmar Connection: Thingalur is the birthplace of Appudhi Adigal, one of the 63 Nayanmars (Saiva saint-poets). The story of Saint Thirunavukkarasar (Appar) reviving Appudhi Adigal's son from a snake bite is famously associated with this village.

* Architecture: The temple follows the Dravidian style of architecture and features a recently built three-tiered Rajagopuram (main tower).

"Lord Chandran parigaram Sthalam! The main deity is Lord Kailyasanathar and Amman. The temple is very neat and clean with a pavement full of flowering plants.

The place name is Thingalur and many come on Mondays especially. A very small and beautiful village where you can hear peacocks roaming around and their sounds. The temple has a beautiful pond as well.

Small temple and it's very powerful, pooja items sold by the temple and lamps are also available. Small book stall as well.

Usually lord abisegam happens on Mondays twice, one is 6-7am and another is 9-10am. So the 1hr archanai will be stopped. Plan it accordingly on Mondays.
