"Incredible volcano to visit. Do your own research before going. Local guides will take you regardless of the current danger rating as they earn very good money. In October 2023 there is a 5 km exclusion zone around the island. This is frequently ignored. Police boats patrol the area and will fine you (avoid weekends when the police are particularly active).

Always approach in the opposite direction of the wind. Lava bombs are frequent and deadly so be aware at all times. Note that tourists have died here.

Easiest access is via Carita Beach. Head to the small port in the south of the beach (just inland) and negotiate directly without the touts on the beach using a translate app."

"Great volcano.
Prefarably to have sunscreen protector and hat against the sun and gas mask against sulfur oxide gases.
Also be aware that volcano rock easely erase shoe sole. Take sturdy boots to volcano."
