The free nature of the event and the vital conservation work are highly appreciated, though some note that crowds can lead to long waits and a desire for more space.
"Unforgettable Experience Releasing Baby Turtles
Releasing baby turtles here was such a fun and heartwarming experience! It’s completely free, but you can donate to support the amazing conservation efforts — definitely a good cause.
Watching the tiny turtles make their way to the ocean was something truly special. It’s a great activity for all ages and only takes a short time, but leaves you with unforgettable memories. A must-do if you’re in the area!"

"Great turtle release experience which is completely free. You can donate but there is zero pressure at all to do so. The host is funny and makes the wait seem less long. He clearly explained release protocols and stated MANY times that no one is to touch the sea turtles and that their safety is the most important part of the activity. People stayed behind a line after release with a volunteer monitoring and only allowing people to move forward when all turtles were out of the way. I did a release today with 700+ sea turtles and all babies were well taken care of and made it safely to the water."
Miriam
"I had the same experience in Zambales, Philippines. It was an interesting and memorable time for the kids.
It makes me think that our generation should protect nature. But there were too many people. It took a lot of time due to the waiting time and narrow space. It was boring with the same comments and actions of the hosts, but it must have been a memorable time for the child.
I hope the space will expand."

The Mission of BSTS
Once the eggs hatch, BSTS ensures the hatchlings are healthy and then facilitates their release into the ocean. This process is not just about saving individual turtles; it's about contributing to the long-term survival of sea turtle populations, which are vital to marine ecosystems. Their work is a testament to local commitment to conservation and a beacon of hope for these magnificent creatures.
Visitors can witness this incredible conservation effort firsthand through their daily turtle release programs. It's an opportunity to connect with nature and understand the challenges faced by marine wildlife, making it a truly impactful experience.

Many visitors describe it as an unforgettable and heartwarming moment, often calling it the best part of their Bali holiday. It's a chance to be part of something meaningful and to contribute, even if just by observing and learning.
It's important to note that while the experience is free, the organization relies heavily on donations. Visitors are encouraged to donate generously to support their ongoing conservation efforts. The waiting time can sometimes be long due to crowds, but the payoff is well worth it for many.
Conservation Beyond the Release
Visitors who are interested in a more immersive experience can explore volunteer opportunities with BSTS. This can involve assisting with nest patrols, helping at the conservation center, or participating in beach clean-ups. Such involvement offers a deeper understanding of the challenges and rewards of wildlife conservation and allows for a more direct contribution to protecting these vulnerable species.
