What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Koka Beach is widely praised for its breathtaking natural beauty, featuring a unique double crescent shape, soft white sand, and stunning turquoise waters. Visitors love the tranquil atmosphere, delicious fresh seafood, and the opportunity for stunning photography. However, some travelers note challenges with road access, potential confusion over entrance fees, and basic facilities.
"Visited the beach while just passing by, so I didn't go in for a swim. But it was still a very great decision, the beach is a unique double crescent beach separated by a huge rock that you can hike up in the middle. There's 2 checkpoints that asked for a 10k ticket by the locals, I believe the first one was a coordinated scam? It was quite shady as they're just normal people flagging me down to ask for money without giving an actual ticket for proof. The roads here are quite bad for the last 1.5km or so.
There's a pretty basic set of facilities around the beach and they're still improving.
You can hike up the big stone in the middle but be very careful. The wooden and bamboo scaffolding is pretty old and there's bunch of rusty nails ready to give you tetanus! However the hike up is still pretty worth it as the views are great."

"We had a phone call with the “owner” of koka beach. We tried to get a cabin at the beach. He however, made us believe that the cabins are still under construction, and we had to stay someplace else. Next to a road and a 30 minute walk away from the beach. We believed him at first, but after arriving at the site, taking a look at the beautiful beach and talking to some locals; we discovered that there was room available after all. Someone there informed us that our guy used to be the “owner” of the cabins at and around the beach, but wasn’t rightfully so. He probably lied to us over the phone, to make some money on some innocent tourists. Staying at koka beach was one of the better experiences in Flores. Kind people, good food and a terrific view. The ambient sound of the waves colliding with the sand and rock is super cool and relaxing. Loads of people just visit for the afternoon, but staying for 2 nights like I did is just something else. Just be aware of a possible soft-scam."

"Beautiful beach, you pay two times its not really a scam as people are saying one is for access and one is for parking. The road isn't in very good condition but its manageable."
