The surrounding natural beauty and the inclusion of other stunning islands like Padar in boat tours are also major draws. "We had very nice trip here. There was 6 of us including 9 year old kid.. Arrival by boat was spectacular, islands around us were so beautiful! Visitor centre is modern, they have small shop and toilets there. Rangers were nice, they explained us lots on the dragons. We saw several dragons, buffalo and monkeys. Surrounding landscape was also nice. Even I was little bit scared of 🦖I really enjoyed it. I hope, Indonesia can protect and preserve this area forever.❤️"
Silvie Marhoulová
"Had a great walk on Rinca Island to see the famous Komodo dragons! Fun fact — Loh means bay and Buaya means Komodo here. The scenery was beautiful and the guided tour was very informative. We were lucky enough to spot several dragons up close."
Lucy Lea
"We took a private charter to this island and we’re the only ones there! We saw multiple komodos which were incredible. Our local guide was very knowledgeable and was able to tell us lots about the Komodos and life on the island. The island itself is very beautiful with incredible views out to sea. We did not visit Komodo island as well but would highly recommend Rinca due to how quiet it is."

The rugged, savanna-like landscape provides a dramatic backdrop for these encounters. The visitor center offers basic facilities and information about the park's unique ecosystem.
The Komodo Boat Tour Experience
Popular itineraries often include visits to Rinca Island for dragon spotting, Padar Island for its iconic viewpoint, and the famous Pink Beach for swimming and snorkeling. Many tours also offer opportunities to swim with manta rays and explore vibrant coral reefs. The quality of the boat and the included amenities can vary significantly, so it's wise to research and compare different tour operators.
When choosing a tour, consider your budget and desired level of comfort. Options range from budget-friendly shared boats to more luxurious private charters. Some tours may also include activities like kayaking or visiting local fishing villages. For non-swimmers, it's important to communicate your comfort level with the tour operator beforehand, as some activities are water-based.
Iconic Views of Padar Island
The hike to the viewpoint on Padar Island can be challenging, especially in the heat, but the reward is immense. Early morning or late afternoon are ideal times to visit for the best light and to potentially avoid the largest crowds.
