"This isn’t a tourist market, it’s a genuine local market. Worth visiting for the sights, smells and experience. It’s safe for tourists and there aren’t many visitors. It’s full of local Balinese people buying meat, fish, clothes, fruit and vegetables. Stall holders and shoppers are friendly towards tourists and none were too pushy. Fairly small and there’s a wide selection of shops on the main roads around the market square. Be warned, visiting might put you off eating chicken, as there are lots being openly butchered."

"I saw a rat and plenty of cockroaches. For a place to buy food it is very dirty. I cannot understand why this is not regulated by the government. It is unhealthy. Lovina does not need an airport but urgent hygienic regulations. If, simply, people would stop littering everywhere and would stop burning rubbish (sometimes I think they live under the illusion that burning rubbish makes it disappear in some sort of magical way), then tourists would come to Lovina by the thousands, even walking, no need for an airport, just BE CLEAN!"
