Reviews Summary

Saryazd Castle is lauded as a remarkably preserved Sassanid-era fortification and an ancient 'bank,' offering a unique glimpse into history. Visitors appreciate its architectural ingenuity, defensive features, and the peaceful, uncrowded atmosphere. Some note the limited facilities and the partially ruined state of the interior, but overall, it's considered a worthwhile historical discovery.

"Sure, here's a simplified and fluent translation for Google Maps:

---

Saryazd Castle, located in the village of Saryazd in Meybod County, is a historical site dating back to the Sasanian era. Registered as a national heritage of Iran with registration number 1084 on June 16, 1975, this castle holds significant cultural value.

Dating back to the Sasanian Empire, Saryazd Castle served primarily as a fortified storage facility rather than a military fortress. It was used to store grains, food supplies, as well as valuable possessions like money, gold, and jewelry, especially during times of invasion and plunder.

The castle is surrounded by a trench approximately 6 meters wide and 3 to 4 meters deep, serving as its first line of defense. Additionally, it features two concentric walls with tall towers and bastions enclosed by the trench.

Saryazd Castle boasts two gates, one serving as the main entrance and the other as a backup gate. The main gate was operable, opening and closing using ropes and pulleys from bottom to top. In case of the main gate being breached, the secondary gate would be shut to prevent enemy entry.

Inside the castle, numerous rooms were utilized for storing and safeguarding valuable items such as gold, money, jewelry, and grains. Each room had its own door and key for added security.

Experience the historical significance and architectural marvels of Saryazd Castle during your visit to Yazd province!"

Alireza Hoshmand

"Sar-yazd Castle has been one of the oldest and largest bank safe deposit boxes in Iran and the world. This historic castle dates back to the Sassanid rule (3rd to 7th centuries AD). The castle was used to store grain and food, which was of special value at the time. In addition to grain, money, gold and jewelry of the villagers were kept in this castle during raids and looting. The building is surrounded by a moat approximately 6 meters wide and three to four meters deep. The castle also has two concentric nested walls with tall and impregnable towers and fortifications. The main door of the castle was movable and was opened and closed from the bottom up by ropes and pulleys. When the main door was broken by the enemy and the enemy entered the castle, the second door of the castle was closed. Sar-yazd Castle has three floors and the materials used in it include clay, mud, brick and plaster. Decorations such as framing and fireplace making can also be seen in it. On either side of the corridors are several chamber-like rooms, each with a separate door and key. This place was registered as one of the national places of Iran on June 17, 1975, with the registration number 1084."

Hamoon Mirzakhani

"This magnificent Sassanid fortress originally served as a kind of well-guarded vault and food storage facility. Although the outer walls are upright, the interior is to a large extent a ruin. Yet it is still clearly recognizable where, for example, food was stored. Despite its location (only 50 kilometers from the center of Yazd), it is a gem that not many people have yet discovered, and where you can look around undisturbed."
