Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Mellat Palace Museum for its stunning architecture, well-preserved interiors, and the immersive historical experience it offers, making it a favorite spot in Tehran. However, some find it poorly organized and note that accessibility can be an issue for those with mobility challenges.

"This palace is the largest building within the Sa’dabad Palace Complex, and due to its white exterior façade, it is commonly known as the White Palace. In the Pahlavi era, it was used both for administrative and ceremonial affairs and also served as the summer residence of Mohammad Reza Shah and his wife, Farah Pahlavi.

The palace consists of 54 different sections, including 10 ceremonial halls. The largest of them is the Main Hall, which features a traditional dining area (Sofrehkhaneh) covering 220 square meters. Construction of the palace began in 1931 (1310 SH) by order of Reza Shah, and was completed in 1936 (1315 SH).

At the entrance, you can see the statue of Reza Shah’s boots, as well as a statue of Arash the Archer, symbolizing Persian mythology."

"One of my favorite places in Tehran, hands down. Mellat Museum Palace is just stunning—the main hall with those massive windows and chandeliers feels like you’re stepping into another era. Every room is beautifully preserved, and you really get a sense of how the royal family lived.
I love how peaceful it is inside, especially on quiet weekdays. The staff are friendly and happy to answer questions, and you’re allowed to take your time and soak in the details. There’s so much history here, from the furniture and art to the stories behind the building itself.
If you’re into photography, don’t forget your camera—the light in the main salon is gorgeous. It’s definitely worth exploring the whole Sa’dabad complex while you’re here. Just be sure to check opening hours before you go.
Honestly, I’ve visited a few times and it always feels special. Highly recommend for anyone interested in history, architecture, or just a peaceful escape in Tehran."
