What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Lissadell House and Gardens is widely praised for its absolutely beautiful and well-maintained gardens, particularly the stunning Alpine garden and peaceful seafront walks. Visitors appreciate the rich Irish history exhibitions and the overall value for money. However, some find the house itself disappointing in its current state, and the tea room has received mixed reviews regarding coffee quality and pricing.
"Absolutely beautiful gardens, so well maintained. The Alpine garden is simply stunning. My only niggle was I could have done with a few more signs. I wanted to see the fairy ring but I didn't know what path to take. Nevertheless, beautiful scenery, beautiful house and lovely staff."

"Lovely place, few walk tracks with lovely views. Reserve more time if you like to visit house and gardens, for us 2 h was definitely not enough."

"We decided to visit the tea room today at Lissadell House, situated in what looks like the old stables. There is free parking. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Inside the places looks lovely and it's kept very clean. My friend got an iced latte with syrup, and from their prices displayed on the counter, she was overcharged 25c. I've never been served an iced latte in a glass latte cup before. Now, a latte glass is generally a 12oz glass. Most iced latte are served in a 16oz plastic cup to accommodate the ice but that's neither here nor there.. Unfortunately, the coffee wasn't good at all, in fact, we didn't drink them. It took a while to figure out what was wrong. I'm not sure if the beans were old or the milk was on the turn, but the coffee had a musty smell and taste. I had a slice of carrot cake, which was good and my daughter had a can of pop and the coffee cake, which she didn't finish. I couldn't see any other prices except the hot drinks price list. Before we left, I got a can of pop, which cost €2. I was charged €16.75 for an iced vanilla latte, a can of pop, and 2 slices of cake. So my iced latte with syrup should have been €4.50, €2 for the can making the cake €5 each, which means I was also overcharged 25c. I won't be back."
