What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Huguenot Cemetery is recognized for its historical significance as a resting place for French Huguenot refugees. While visitors appreciate its role in preserving a piece of Cork's past, many note its small size and limited access, with the gate often being locked.
"The Huguenot Cemetery, located at 10 Merrion Row in Dublin City, Ireland, is a small burial ground established in 1693 and is situated near St Stephen's Green.
It serves as the final resting place for descendants of Huguenots who fled religious persecution in France following the revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685, which had previously guaranteed their religious freedom."
Alejandro DePablos
"It's a small cemetery near Cork town center. It's just a little garden between two buildings. There is a gate and you can look through to see just 2 or 3 graves and a board giving some background. There are no opening times or anything. The gate is permanently closed.
The touristic value of the place is nearly zero. I am leaving 5 stars just by respect for the deceased. After all, a cemetery is not there to entertain us.
I won't recommend flying in just to see that place unless you have a peculiar interest in the Edict of Nantes and the History around it."

"Found it on my third visit to Cork. Find parking first. It's on a wee one way lane. Gate LOCKED when I got there..Took photos through the bars. Surrounding info not much help."
