Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Glen of the Downs for its beautiful native woodlands and the intriguing Octagon ruins, offering a peaceful escape. The ample parking and scenic stream are also highlights. However, the lack of clear trail markings and the dangerous car park entrance are recurring concerns that require visitor caution. Reddit+1

"A lovely location to walk and enjoy the climb to the Octagon, you may encounter horse riders and depending on the season you can see the golfers doing their stuff surrounded by stunning colored trees. It has good parking and a nice stream to enjoy"

Michael Raj Groves

"Didn’t expect this nice hiking location right on the road. The entrance to the car park is somewhat dangerous, so please mind the traffic. Also, the trails aren’t marked, so you might end up on the other side of the forest, and would have to go all the way back to get to the car park. You can try different paths though, and go deeper into the forest, and thus spend 3+ hours exploring. Great location overall, with some ruins along the way, and some really thick woods 👍"

Olga Pogozheva

"A beautiful trail for easy hiking, plenty of parking spots.
However, some signs might be useful, as once we walked the wrong way and then had to go back for 30 minutes to find the car. 🥲 I recommend you to follow the map or All trails app.
And yes, be careful when entering and leaving the parking."
