What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are consistently awestruck by the immense size and historical significance of Glendruid Dolmen, often calling it one of the most impressive dolmens they've seen. However, many lament the lack of upkeep and the challenging, sometimes overgrown, access path, which can make it difficult for some to reach.
"It is maybe one of the most beautiful ones that i saw,it is just a shame nobody is taking care, cutting the grass etc.
Also,an official path would come in handy, because you have to make your way through thick forest and across the stream, which could be harder for older people."

"My friend and I are beyond thrilled to join this exclusive club!! Thanks to Virtual BCN for the great instructions!
Once you find the entrance, very close to the LUAS stop, the path is pretty easy to follow. Go left at the fork in the path in the woods. There are some low hanging branches to duck under and the steps across the stream are pretty slippery…we both soaked our sneakers lol. I suggest bringing some flip flops or swim shoes, rolling up your pants, and just walking through the stream tbh. The fallen tree is kinda difficult to climb over, but we managed it without helping each other, so worst case scenario if you have a friend with you it can definitely be done if you help each other. The hike to get here is a big part of the fun!
This place is wild, get ready for bugs and plants that might scratch you. It is a sacred place so please have respect! There was some litter at the entrance of the trail, and we tried to pick up as much as we could on the way out, but I hope people stop leaving their trash there.
It was without a doubt the very best part of our trip to Ireland!! We had a magical time!!"

"Awesome dolmen—one of the best in the country. Shame on OPW (surprised, surprise) that there is no public access. Why can other countries solve the issue of accessing national monuments via private land (with proper legislation like compulsory purchase), yet here it remains unresolved? To make it even sadder, the state used to own the land and sold it a few years ago!"
