Firstly, on arrival, you are seated on the deck and your drink orders are taken. After about 20 minutes your food orders are taken. Once starters are served, everyone moves down to inside the barge to have their meal.
The deck itself could do with an upgrade. Really there is only so much you can do with weatherproof furniture BUT the table I was sat at had a huge very noticeable crack in it.
The food itself was nice but the dessert portion was a bit lacking. There are only two options and the cake I got was very small compared to the creme brulee my boyfriend got. Still nice though.
Now the service from staff and crew was outstanding. They were very efficient at their job and also very kind.
Overall I'd recommend La Peniche for a novel experience and not for a fantastic dining experience.
Also, this is a very minor gripe but when booking you are asked if there is a special occasion. On my cruise there were 2 birthdays. I had put down it was our anniversary but there was no mention of this during our dining experience."
