"The current Ottoman walls were the ones that defeated Napoleon's attempts to capture the city in 1799. Along the coastal strip there are also remains of the Crusader walls - with people using them as a base for fishing.
There is a ramp just inside the land gate that takes you to the top of the walls and then just follow them round. There is a bit of litter but not too bad and the northern path is well used for walking and jogging."

"Old Akko streets, alleyways and walls are just beautiful and are simply a doorway to the past of this magnificent Ancient city, that have been conquered and re-conquered many times. If you climb up these ancient walls you can get to a view point which is overlooking the bay and the small beach.
When you come to old Akko; you can make a whole day out of it, first go eat at Sa'id hummus, then visit the Knight's halls in old Akko, and finish off at this remarkable view point on top of Akko's ancient city walls."
