Reviews Summary

The Okashi Art Museum is a small gallery, often included in package deals, that some visitors find uninteresting and too brief. While it features permanent and temporary exhibitions, including literary-themed art, explanations are primarily in Hebrew, and some guests have encountered rude staff. It's best viewed as a quick, supplementary stop rather than a primary destination.

"The museum comes as part of the package deal. It's very small and not particularly interesting. Takes 5 minutes for the entire place - boring and unnecessary."

"Permanent Ukshi's paintings exposition and temporary cherry blossom expo. Paitings of Lea Goldberg on the subject connected to her translation into Hebrew o Chehov's Cherry Garden. For lovers of art and literature ."

BR Ziv

"Total waste of time. The ticket is included in the package you HAVE to buy if you want to see the crusader fortress the british dug up (which runs under the prison, the mosques, a great deal of that part of town in fact, and is worth a good 3 hours at least). That said, the collection is at best amateurish and at best a vanity project on the part of the painter. The ridiculously rude guy who watches the door tells you not to take pictures, MOSTLY I think so word won't get out about how bad the art work is, and I say this as a former art history major and professional artist."

For Different Travelers

Tailored advice for your travel style

👨‍👩‍👧 Families with Kids

The Okashi Art Museum is likely too small and specialized to hold the attention of most children for an extended period. If it's part of a package, a quick walkthrough might be manageable, but don't expect interactive exhibits or extensive kid-friendly content. Focus on the historical sites included in the package for more engaging family experiences. Reddit

💰 Budget Travelers

If the Okashi Art Museum is included in a package deal you're already purchasing for other attractions, then it's essentially a 'free' addition. However, if you were considering visiting it solely on its own merits, most reviews suggest it's not worth a dedicated entry fee due to its size and limited appeal. Reddit

📚 Art & Literature Enthusiasts

For those with a specific interest in Ukshi's work or the literary connections, like Lea Goldberg's translations, the museum offers a niche experience. Be aware of the language barrier for explanations and manage expectations regarding the size of the collection. It's a brief, focused visit rather than an in-depth artistic exploration. Reddit

Understanding the Okashi Art Museum Experience

The Okashi Art Museum is often encountered as part of a larger tourist package, frequently bundled with visits to historical sites like the crusader fortress. This integration means many visitors don't seek it out independently, and its perceived value can be tied to the overall package. However, reviews consistently highlight its small size, with many visitors spending only 5-10 minutes inside.

Artistic Content and Language: The museum showcases permanent works by Ukshi, alongside temporary exhibitions. One notable temporary exhibition focused on cherry blossoms, inspired by Lea Goldberg's translation of Chekhov's 'Cherry Garden,' appealing to those interested in art and literature. A significant point of feedback is that exhibition explanations are primarily in Hebrew, posing a challenge for international visitors who may not understand the context or significance of the pieces without additional resources. Reddit

Visitor Etiquette and Staff Interaction: Several reviews mention issues with staff courtesy, describing interactions as rude or unwelcoming. This has led to speculation that strict rules, such as photo restrictions, might be in place to manage perceptions of the artwork. Visitors are advised to be prepared for potentially curt service and to always ask for permission before taking photographs. Reddit+1
