What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors often find the outdoor gardens to be the most appealing aspect of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, praising their beauty and tranquility. While the museum itself is noted for being dated and in need of renovation, it's still considered interesting for children. Some guests have experienced unexpected closures, so checking hours beforehand is advised.
"On the one hand, the place is really neglected, the windows of the exhibits are broken and they fixed them with adhesive paper, the floor and the walls have seen better days, the exhibits are dusty and some of the explanations have fallen off, and the place is very, very old-fashioned, don't expect to get something similar to the Nature Museum in Tel Aviv, on the other hand, there are things that are very Interesting to see and the children did enjoy it, the most beautiful thing is actually the garden outside, there is a nursery, a sustainability garden, a kitchen and a few games for children and sculptures, I think you can enter the garden even without entering and paying at the museum, you should check it out. The building and the courtyard are beautiful and pleasant, but the museum is in a deplorable condition. The exhibits are mostly tattered and crumbling stuffed animals, and there are also some dioramas and other exhibits that are brought in sloppily and without thought. The staff are polite but not very helpful. Too bad😥😥👍"

"Nice gardens, a little gem in Jerusalem. Interesting taxidermy collection. It may need a little renovation but that part of the charm"

"Terrible experience
The staff forced me out although it seemed open. Their reason was - we have construction going
Also both museum and garden are super tiny"
