Definitely worth the 4 AM hike up the mountain at Masada, Israel
I will never forget what it felt like to stand up there and look out across the vastness. It was a unique feeling. Though, I bet 4am was way less hellish on my fat ass than it was during 95 degree scorching high-noon sun.

View from Masada overlooking the Dead Sea just after sunrise, Israel
That hike up the Snake Path was SO much harder than it looked from the bottom. The view from the top made it worth it, but boy did it make me realize how out of shape I was.

Reviews Summary
Masada National Park is overwhelmingly praised for its breathtaking historical significance and stunning natural beauty, particularly the sunrise views. Visitors consistently highlight the profound sense of history and the awe-inspiring landscapes. Some find the hike challenging and note that booking tickets in advance is essential, especially for the cable car.
"It was hot but well worth the visit. Lots of amazing history, fantastic views, and a store with an extensive variety of cold drinks. Cable car ride to the top was exciting, although each gondola was crammed full of passengers so wear a mask if you wish to protect yourself."

"Ruins of a Dynasty, ruined by a greedy Kingdom. The great efforts of the excavation team brink back the lifestyle and architecture before 3000 years.
Need full-day to go round, better to have a guide.
Most importantly, do not visit during summer. Best to visit in winter."

"I went up for the sunrise and going down at 7 (in June) was already super hot so idk how people do it during the day.
Honestly I didn’t look at a lot of pictures what to expect up there. Drove up in complete darkness and got the light when I was 1/3 up the snake path and was amazed and it kept just getting more and more breathtaking.
If you are hiking up keep in mind there is very little shade on the way up and up top they built a few shelters but most of it very open."
