Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Mahmoudiya Mosque for its stunning Ottoman architecture and peaceful atmosphere, highlighting its role as a community hub. While some note recent renovations have improved its appearance, its historical significance and serene courtyards are consistently lauded as major draws. It's considered a must-visit landmark in Jaffa.
"An incredible architect in terms of architecture… A Mosque built to integrate people rather than dividing them.
Whoever did it for a hundred years, whoever put a brick, may Allah be pleased with him. The Mahmoudiyah Mosque or the Great Mosque is located in the center of the city of Jaffa, opposite the Clock Tower. It is a central and important mosque in terms of its location and because of its large size. There is a large internal yard for prayer. It is visited by tourists from inside and outside, especially in the month of Ramadan and holidays. The mosque has undergone major and radical renovations, which improved its appearance from the outside. And inside too.."

"It's the Great Mosque of Jaffa, an architectural treasure with a rich cultural tapestry and history of the old city, way before it became incorporated into the current day Tel Aviv. It's one of the most remarkable landmarks of Jaffa with its imposing minaret.
It's a prominent Ottoman Period architecture. The original mosque was built around early 1700's. The current structure was completed around the 19th century. Along with minaret, the two domes are a draw to this old architecture.
The mosque remains a place of prayer for the faithful. According to locals whom I've had pleasure of speaking with, it is also a great place peaceful respite from the daily rustlings of modern Jaffa, and a cool rest from the summer heat."

"I was there at night, strolling Jaffa narrow streets when I came by this place.
Unlike other reviewers, I haven't encountered any problem as I was alone and could admire the place all by myself.
All Jaffa or Yafo, is a magical place by night.
Just take a look at the pictures."
