"A beautiful 18th-century noble palace in Alessandria, commissioned by Marquis Tommaso Ottaviano Antonio Ghilini (1667-1748), designed by his nephew Benedetto Alfieri, and continued by architect Giovanni Battista Gianotti. Construction of the palace began with the main body, which was built under the direction of Domenico Caselli and completed in 1732. Later, in 1766, the northern wing facing Via Pontida was built, and only in the mid-19th century was the southern wing facing Via Parma. It belonged to the family until its sale to the state. After its restoration, it effectively became the Royal Palace until 1869, when it was purchased by the province to house its administrative offices and the Prefecture. The majestic façade and atrium are worthy of admiration; the interiors are magnificent, but can only be seen on rare and special occasions."
