Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Ancona Cathedral for its magnificent blend of art and history, offering spectacular panoramic views over the Adriatic Sea and port. The unique Romanesque and Byzantine architecture, along with the fascinating crypt, are highlighted as major draws. It's often described as a peaceful, uncrowded gem perfect for history buffs and those seeking stunning viewpoints.

"Beautiful old cathedral with real human bones on display- some lovely scrollwork on the entrance. The views from up there are excellent, one of the best places to nab a scenic picture"

Tim Sena

"It is not obvious how to get to it on foot. Approach it from the harbour roads, not the lands above it. Those so called parks and historic structures are ruins that will take many years to renovate ( construction mess currently)
From the harbour there is a half way lift but walking up is not too difficult if you find the correct streets and steps.."

Roger Brand

"A magnificent blend of an art and history

The Cattedrale di San Ciriaco is truly a hidden gem perched on the hill above Ancona. From the moment you start the walk up (or drive), you're rewarded with spectacular panoramic views over the Adriatic Sea and the port below.
The cathedral itself is a stunning combination of Romanesque and Byzantine architectural styles, beautifully preserved and radiating a serene atmosphere. Inside, the soft light filtering through the windows creates an almost mystical ambiance, and the crypt with ancient columns adds an extra layer of fascination for history lovers.
What makes the visit even more special is the peacefulness - it's usually not crowded, so you can take your time to admire the details and reflect. The surrounding area is also perfect for a short stroll or to simply enjoy the sea breeze and views.

Highly recommended for anyone visiting Ancona - whether you're interested in architecture, history, spirituality, or just looking for an unforgettable viewpoint."
