Reviews Summary

Visitors appreciate the beautiful restoration of the historic prison building and its transformation into a versatile exhibition space. The temporary art exhibitions, often featuring significant Italian artists, are a major draw, offering a unique cultural experience. However, the building's original prison structure presents considerable accessibility challenges for those with mobility issues.

"Visited the exhibition: Painters of Reality. An interesting overview of 20th-century figurative painters (Annigoni, Sciltian, and the Bueno Brothers) who now seem to have been forgotten. Credit must be given to Sgarbi, Avanzi, and Ferrari for trying to bring these great artists back into the spotlight. They are no less important than other painting movements; they simply followed a different path in creating art, reaching, in my opinion, extraordinary heights.
If I can criticize the exhibition, it's that a dozen more oils would have been appreciated (at least by me).
It's worth a visit."

FABIO PELLIZZON

"VERY IMPORTANT!! The building is ABSOLUTELY NOT suitable for wheelchair users! (See review by A. Castellan).
This is not due to negligence on the part of the architects, but rather because they restored a PRISON from 1897, and in those days, little attention was paid to the physical condition of prisoners, especially during the Fascist period and up until 1945.
This means low, narrow cell entrances, solid wooden doors, and cramped spaces.

They call it a "Museum," but in reality, it's a building suitable for any type of exhibition.

Currently, there's one dedicated to Ligabue (Antonio, the painter, not the singer!), with many paintings and sculptures, distributed along the main corridor and the six cells (four on the ground floor and two on the first and only floor).
I believe the admission price is relative to the type of exhibition, so it fluctuates. For this one, it's €10, but with the usual discounts.

Since it's near the pedestrian area, you can walk there. Lazy people can park in the 20 free spaces next to the entrance.
Reservations? Out of season, I don't think so. On Saturday, September 18th, at 10:00 a.m., there were eight of us wandering through the rooms.

In conclusion: without an exhibition to see, the visit is comparable to that of Forte Corbin or Campolongo or Verena."

"Beautiful restoration by the municipality of Asiago of a structure that served as a prison in the early 1900s. Used during the Fascist era, it was used as a prison; during the restoration and renovation, prisoners' writings in their own blood were discovered on the walls.
Beautiful restoration, including the truly stunning recovery of the cell doors.
Used for exhibitions and events.
Excellent access and a small parking lot in front of the building. A larger parking lot is located a few hundred meters away."
