What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Belvedere Punta Stendardo for its breathtaking coastal views and the unique geological wonder of the Split Mountain. The mystical suspended chapel and the historical context of Monte Orlando Park add significant appeal. While generally free and accessible, some find the main belvedere can get crowded, and caution is advised on narrow paths.
"Walking the beautiful Ghiro trail in Monte Orlando Park, you're lucky enough to admire the beauty of this stretch of coast.
Truly evocative, it's definitely worth it.
In the park and along the trail, there are also old powder magazines and, at the top, the Lucius Munatius Plancus Mausoleum. There are many scenic spots like this one, truly evocative.
I also encountered a beautiful colony of cats that roam freely in the park.
There are many scenic spots overlooking both the city and the sea.
Definitely worth a visit, but I highly recommend minimal hiking gear."

"If you enjoy views, this is a must-do if you're near Gaeta.
Quick and free, it allows you to see the Split Mountain from a terrace above the church of San Filippo Neri.
The route seems winding, but it's fascinating; you'll practically pass through the mountain on which the sanctuary is located, finding yourself in the middle of the Split Mountain.
Recommended.
Parking is free, as is access to the facility."
Daniele Rota
"It is certainly suggestive to see the sea that becomes an immense blue penetrating the crack. Equally suggestive is the chapel suspended over the sea. Narrow stairs, a little damp, belvedere on the chapel perhaps a little too crowded, be careful if you suffer from vertigo and watch your head for those taller among us. To get there you must enter the spaces of the sanctuary and follow the signs. Entrance by free offering. Do not forget the giant hand of the sailor who did not believe in the legend on the path (which is practically the photo area)"
