Reviews Summary

Reviews for Castello di Bossi are mixed, with some guests praising the stunning Tuscan scenery, excellent wines, and friendly staff, while others express disappointment with room maintenance, cleanliness, and advertised amenities not being as expected. The property's potential is high, but consistency in upkeep appears to be an issue for some visitors.

"Disappointing Stay – Not Worth the Price

We were very excited to stay at Castello di Bossi, but unfortunately, our experience was far from what was promised.

At check-in, we were given the wrong room. Only after we questioned it did they acknowledge the mistake and move us to a different room, saying it was their “biggest room.” Later, they claimed it was an “upgrade,” but it was clearly just an attempt to make up for their reservation error.

The room itself was disappointing — dirty, with fogged windows and no view of the hills or vineyards as advertised. The bathroom sink was clogged, the door handle came off in our hands, the shower leaked water onto the floor, and the windows were rotten and moldy, badly in need of replacement. The whole property needs a lot of maintenance and updates.

One of the main reasons we chose this property was the advertised in-room washer, which was important for us as a traveling family. In reality, there was no washer in the apartment. Guests have to share one — and it was in terrible condition: dirty, broken, and unhygienic.

The pool was also neglected. Throughout our stay, we never saw it being cleaned. It had leaves and dead bugs floating in it, along with broken and missing tiles. The same lack of upkeep extended to the furniture and other areas of the property. The property is neglected and is not cared for and the issues we experience prove it.

As compensation for the reservation mishap and our clear dissatisfaction, we were offered a “traditional Italian breakfast” for all four of us during our stay, and one night in the tasting room we were offered two glasses of wine to taste. Later, when I reached out to share the issues and request a partial refund, I was shocked to see that these “gestures” were actually itemized with price tags — as if they were doing us a favor worth charging for.

We’ve stayed at other agriturismi in the region that were well-maintained and had beautiful grounds. Castello di Bossi has a long way to go to meet the standard it claims to offer, especially at the excessive price of a high-end hotel without the services, cleanliness, or upkeep to match.

Do NOT recommend.

Edit: there is a response from the management and I am shocked that instead of acknowledging the issues, they blame me for “threatening them with a negative review to get a refund”. Wow!"

"Such an incredible stay! We were in the Casa Tolomei apartments. Everything was exactly how we would have liked it to be. The team are all so friendly and welcoming. Laura and Valentina looked after us a lot during our stay. We visited the vineyard a few times as it was lovely to sit outside and try the different wines. The team were all so informative about all the wines and history of the area. We cannot thank them enough! It was truly such an unforgettable experience and we most definitely will be back."
