"Recently restored, the church was rebuilt in the 18th century based on a design by the architect Carboni, with particular attention to the presbytery and the high altar. It is dedicated to Saint Afra, a young woman consecrated to God whose teeth were hammered out and then burned alive during Diocletian's persecution. The church's exterior is made of Botticino marble and stylistically marks the transition from Baroque to Classicism. Visible are the tympanum at the apex and an entablature below that divides the façade into two halves, both with vertical pilasters.
The upper half features a large window adorned with marble carvings, and the lower half features a portal surmounted by an arched tympanum.
