What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Presepe Vivente di Custonaci for its breathtaking beauty, meticulous craftsmanship, and immersive atmosphere. The unique setting within the Grotta Mangiapane and the detailed historical recreations transport attendees back in time. While the food prices are noted as slightly high by some, the overall experience is highly recommended as a must-see attraction, offering great value for its admission fee.
"Breathtaking! I think that's the best way to describe this spectacle... Most of the village is made up of handmade huts... Structures that are sometimes two-story, with arches, bridges, and overpasses... Beautiful... Go because it's truly worth it. Furthermore, along the way, you can taste wine at the inn, bread with oil, "fave caliate," boiled chickpeas, ricotta, hot tea, and water with bay leaves, all freshly prepared by the performers."
Erika Greco
"Truly well done. In my opinion, it's a must-see attraction. It's well-crafted, meticulously crafted, and evocative.
Admission is €5 (a very fair price) for adults, while children are free (but I don't know up to what age).
The nativity scene unfolds along a path, all on foot, among the town's buildings, but all the spaces have been recreated in wood, tarpaulins, stone, reeds, and carpets. So, especially at night, it feels like you've stepped back in time, as you lose sight of the more modern facades of the buildings and focus on the reconstructed spaces. All the staff wear period costumes.
Perhaps the only flaws are the price of the sandwiches sold at the stalls and the staggered entry times.
A sandwich (always fresh) with a piece of sausage and a little onion costs €2.50 (ditto the one with porchetta), which seems a bit expensive for the amount of food offered.
Finally, you can enter to visit the nativity scene at different times:
I understand that 100 people can't fit in at once because the alleys are narrow and there's no room for movement, but when you arrive at 7:30 PM and are told you have to wait until 8:30/9:00 PM to get in, it means waiting an hour in the middle of the street, and considering the temperatures, it's not ideal, especially for those with children.
In any case, recommended.
Go see it."

"Personally, I prefer it to the one in Custonaci. Much more organized, including the queue to get into the present this year."
