On one side there is the Teatro Comunale and the enormous Palazzo Pio di Savoia.
At one end there is the town cathedral, the Basilica Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta.

I was there on a Saturday morning and was disappointed in a way that there was a Saturday street market in the square and on the side opposite the impressive medieval buildings were retail shops ... but in a sense that is good as the square is still part of the everyday life of a vibrant, modern town."
