What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Cartaromana Beach offers stunning views of the Aragonese Castle and a quieter atmosphere than other Ischia beaches. However, access is challenging due to steep steps and a winding road, and recent rockfalls have limited usable beach space. Some visitors found the overall atmosphere less inviting than expected.
"The beach is mostly inaccessible at the moment due to falling rocks leaving a very small area of beach to use. There are a lot of steep steps down to the beach. However, the view is nice."
Daniel Smith
"Small poor beach. A steep walk path leads to it. Atmosphere is quite low"

"Lovely little beach if you’re up for a nice long stroll down a windy road and steps, and back up again. I love that it wasn’t as crowded as the other beaches probably because it’s not as readily accessible. The sun goes down over the mountain around 3/4pm but I didn’t mind at all and had a really nice day there. Two restaurants serve food and have a typical café/bar for beverages but I brought my lunch. I did unfortunately find some trash on the beach maybe from the wind washing it ashore, so I implore you to pick up and throw away anything you see to help keep the beaches and sea life healthy!"

Navigating the Terrain: Access and Footwear
Recent reports have also highlighted concerns about falling rocks, which can further impact the accessibility and available space on the beach. It's crucial to check local conditions or ask for updates upon arrival. While some restaurants and lodging are present, the overall atmosphere can feel a bit subdued or even unwelcoming to some, as noted by a few visitors.
Despite these challenges, the picturesque views of the Aragonese Castle remain a major draw. The unique combination of natural beauty and historical context makes it a memorable spot, provided you're prepared for the terrain.
The Charm of Cartaromana: Views and Atmosphere
However, the atmosphere can be mixed. While some find the tranquility and unique setting delightful, others have described it as having a 'low atmosphere' or feeling a bit neglected, especially if recent rockfalls have impacted the area. The sun also sets quite early here, around 3-4 PM, due to the surrounding landscape, which might be a drawback for those hoping for extended evening beach time.
Despite any perceived drawbacks, the photographic potential is undeniable. The interplay of the ancient castle, the blue sea, and the sandy shore creates a scene that many visitors are eager to capture.
