Reviews Summary

The San Leucio Silk Museum offers a unique glimpse into the history of silk production and an ambitious 18th-century industrial colony. Visitors appreciate the fascinating story and the legacy of San Leucio damask. However, the experience can be hampered by mandatory Italian-only guided tours, limited English translations, and potential closures of rooms or gardens, leading some to question the value for money. Reddit

"A museum not really known but the story of the place and the idea at the base of it gives us a different idea of the kingdom of Naples. Sadly it is not as known as it should be"

"Had to have a guided tour, which was in Italian, with no option for an english translation on headset, etc. We speak a little italian, but even so, we could not hear the guide. There are some english written translations on the exhibits but not on all, and the guide was moving through too fast for us to even read them. The children were bored despite them speaking fluent italian and having an interest in Hidtory and engineering. We didn't even realise the tour had ended as the guide disappeared without ending the tour. Gardens and most rooms were also closed. €36 for two adults and 3 children, compared to €32 entry to Herculaneum and €30 to Regina Caserta Not worth the visit in our opinion."

"This museum has a lot to offer most guests and I suggest you do not pass by this gem. However, the man selling tickets could be much better. He only speaks Italian, which is fine. He was not patient when I tried to speak in Italian. But, what got my attention was when his coworker tried to help him, he brushed off the coworker. We could have had better information going in had the ticket seller been more open or patient. I think the ticket seller might need to realize that a Euro is a Euro whether if comes from a person speaking italian or speaking English or speaking German, what have you. Patience can go a long way in the tourism business in any country."
