"The Segheria Venezia (Venice Sawmill) is one of the most important historical and cultural landmarks in the entire municipality of Predaia. Established by the Serenissima Republic of Venice, it was once the lowest-lying mill of six mills and sawmills that, here as elsewhere, formed a small industrial district of water-powered hydraulic machinery.
Owned by the municipality, it was renovated in 1994 for educational and demonstration purposes. It houses the Wood Museum, which displays original tools once used by lumberjacks to fell trees, carters to transport logs, and carpenters, carpenters, and sawyers to transform logs into planks, beams, joists, and lumberyards. These tools, and the sawmill itself, bear witness to the experience and technical ingenuity of the men who worked in this important sector of the mountain economy. Visits are available by appointment in July and August."
