"The location is mistakenly indicated on the map as Alaric's tomb, but this information is clearly false, as it has never been found. Legend has it that it is located at the confluence of the Crati and Busento rivers and that a priceless treasure is contained within. The bronze sculpture entitled "King of the Goths on Horseback," created by the artist Paoli Grassini, was inaugurated in 2016. Positioned so as to look towards the confluence of the rivers, where the phantom treasure is hypothetically located. The statue is an important symbol for the city, both from a historical and tourist point of view. In particular, the statue shows Alaric standing on his horse, which is depicted without legs, supported by stilts, as if to indicate that the horse is wounded and has returned from battle. The place is poorly maintained, and to get there you have to walk through the rubble of the old Hotel Jolly. Work on the site, which began years ago, was never completed. Today, it has become an open-air toilet where people go to the toilet, a disregard for the city and all the tourists who would like to visit this place. This is a sign that the administration is paying little attention to enhancing the city's cultural heritage."
