This is the Church of San Domenico Maggiore in Naples, Italy, and it contains the room that St. Thomas Aquinas lived in while he lived in Naples! Jesus appeared to St Thomas and said: "Thomas, you have written well of me; what would you have?" The humble Dominican replied: Non nisi te - "Nothing but You, Lord!" That vision of Jesus took place in this room!

Reviews Summary

Visitors often praise the stunning art and architecture found within the various Churches of San Domenico, highlighting impressive frescoes, sculptures, and Gothic designs. The historical significance, particularly stories of saints and notable figures, is also a major draw. However, some visitors express disappointment when unable to access interiors due to closures or limited hours, and the sheer number of churches with similar names can cause confusion.

"Making sure you have the opportunity to visit this church means being able to complete an art tour of the city of Fabriano with the Gothic chapels and the works of Allegretto Nuzi and his school."

Mariano Pallottini

"The tourist signs initially confused me: in front of the imposing mass of this religious building, some signs indicated the Church of Santa Maria Novella, others the Church of San Domenico. I had to consult my tour guide to understand that I was standing before a complex formed by the union of two pre-existing churches: San Domenico and Santa Lucia Novella, built together with the convent of Benedictine monks towards the end of the 13th century and then rebuilt in the middle of the following century thanks to funding from the noble Chiavelli family, whose chapel and tomb are inside. Of the original Gothic-style church, only the left side, the bell tower, and the polygonal apse remain, where the Chiavelli family's coat of arms is prominently displayed. Unfortunately, I was unable to visit the interior because the entrance doors were closed. I had to content myself with admiring the decorations by Antonio da Fabriano in the restored rooms of the former convent, which now houses the Paper and Watermark Museum."

Anna Maria Polverino

"The church of San Domenico is located in the historic center of Fabriano.
The façade is flat and lacks any distinctive features.
Unfortunately, since it's still recovering from the earthquake, I can't give it more than one star."
