"It was built at the end of the fifteenth century as a support for the mountain bulwark. It housed the artillery parapets that protected the eastern area of the city. In 1943 the two anti-fascists Girolamo Savonuzzi and Arturo Torboli were shot here.
It has a triangular plan with small embankment structures that have now disappeared, but it still remains one of the best preserved bastions. Outside there is the Doccile di San Tommaso, of eighteenth-century origin, built as a drainage channel for the city sewers. Doccile, in fact, indicates a drain or canal. There is another one a little further north, dedicated to San Rocco."
