What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Forte Sommo Alto for its historical significance and stunning natural setting, offering a unique blend of WWI exploration and scenic hiking. While the fort is largely in ruins, the accessible tunnels and surrounding trails provide an engaging experience. Some lament the lack of museum-like preservation but appreciate the effort to maintain accessible historical elements.
"The fort is awesome. But the track there used to be accessible to 4wders all year round. Not anymore thanks to new laws :/"
Jason
"Forte Sommo Alto, ruins and nothing but ruins. A shame, it could have been a small museum, even if it cost money. However, it's nestled in a stunning landscape, protecting Folgaria. You can enter with caution to the lower level, where there's a well-maintained tunnel that was the escape route. Three kilometers from the Passo Coe car park, it's a walk through the woods without much effort."
Luca lakers
"An absolute highlight: the plant is divided into three stations, all connected by long portals, and you can currently walk through them all.
A definite recommendation for a visit.
If you don't have much time, it's better to visit the Sommo plant than the Serrada plant. It takes less time and there's more to discover.
The route to the Serrada plant is more interesting (about halfway there, then you can turn around).
The Serrada plant itself was completely destroyed during steel production."
