What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Oratorio della Nunziatella for its hidden artistic treasures, particularly the Perugino fresco and the historic Annunciation. The free admission and the unique, ancient atmosphere are highly appreciated, though the limited opening hours and the need to get a ticket from Palazzo Trinci require careful planning.
"Externally it goes almost unnoticed but the oratory of the Nunziatella houses works of great value. At the end of the fifteenth century a fresco depicting an Annunciation, located on the ground floor of a private house, became famous for a miraculous event and the building was transformed into a sanctuary in honor of the Virgin of the Annunciation. Restored in 1830, the Oratory has a rectangular plan; on the altar of the Annunciation, inside an elegant finely carved wooden aedicule, you can admire the miraculous image of the Virgin while unfortunately the angel that was depicted on the right has been lost. Of great beauty and importance is the altar of St. John the Baptist frescoed by Pietro Vannucci, known as Perugino with the representation of the Baptism of Christ. The oratory is open from April 1st to October 30th on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00. To visit, contact the ticket office in the courtyard of Palazzo Trinci. Not to be missed if you are visiting Foligno."

"Open at specific times, departing from the Trinci Museum, for accompanying persons only. Admission to the site is free, but you must purchase a figurative ticket at the Palazzo Trinci ticket office."

"Must see. It seems like entering any palace but then... I'll start by saying that I'm not a fan of Perugino, but it is pleasantly beautiful, you can breathe a particular, historical, ancient air inside. The three altars inside are worth contemplating and the one on St. John the Baptist by Perugino is also worth a search for detail because it is so beautiful. Must-Do Experience in Spoleto."
