What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors often praise the Palazzo Comunale for its remarkable artistic works and historical significance, with many highlighting the engaging frescoes and knowledgeable guides. However, some note that the palace isn't always heavily promoted, and clarity regarding museum access can sometimes be an issue.
"Earthquakes...
This 13th-century palace stands out prominently in the central Piazza della Repubblica, although its initial reconstruction took place between the 16th and 17th centuries, when it was enlarged to include the former Palazzo dei Priori and Palazzo del Capitano. It was rebuilt several times due to earthquakes, so much so that in the 1997 earthquake the lantern, also known as the torrino, the tower that tops the Palazzo Comunale, collapsed. It was restored after 10 years, and the columns surmounting a series of arches support the base on which the lantern then rises."
ROBERTO RIVIECCIO
"Palazzo Splendido, with a neoclassical appearance characterized by two lateral sides and a central avant-corps where, on five round arches, rest a travertine parapet and six Ionic columns supporting the cymatium engraved with the words S.P.Q.F. (Senatus Populusque Fulginei).
The artistic works inside are numerous and valuable. I recommend visiting with a drink."

The council room is very particular and the frescoes are very engaging. To visit perhaps organized with a bottle of water. All special."
