"You can only hike between 6:30 and 10:30 & 16:30 and 19:30. We went up around 10:00 and we could not finish and reach the top because of the sulphurous air. So I would recommend to keep there timelines for your health! You have to walk in ankle-deep in small pebbles, so take your hiking shoes!"

The climb to the crater requires about 45 minutes of walking on a mostly sandy path, but the slope is moderate and the route is rather easy for those with minimal physical preparation.
Important: Access to the path is regulated by a traffic light at the beginning: only the green light allows you to proceed. If it is red, access is prohibited.
As there are no trees, the hike can be challenging in the hottest hours. I recommend going up early in the morning or late afternoon/sunset. Check the times when climbing is permitted based on the time of year.
I definitely recommend bringing a hat, water and comfortable shoes (ideally trekking shoes or at least trainers suitable for walking on the sand).
