"The atmosphere here is amazing, but our food was almost inedible. Having a meal in a castle is no doubt a unique and lovely experience, but unfortunately, our food was absolutely terrible. We went for lunch on Sunday, and we were the only people in the entire establishment. We ate by ourselves in the formal restaurant, but the tavern downstairs was completely empty too. We understood why it was empty once our food arrived. We ordered several different plates, and all 5 of us were disappointed. Specifically, we ordered 2 portions of pumpkin risotto, and it was made with cheese that tasted as if it had gone bad. Between the 5 of us, none of us were interested in eating it. I feel terrible leaving a negative review, but risotto is normally a family favorite in any flavor, and I've never met a cheese I didn't like. We all greed that this was the worst risotto we've ever had. We each attempted a few bites, but it was terribly sour. None of us ate it. Similarly, we ordered 2 portions of the gnocchi with a broccoli cream and smoked cheese which sounded delicious, but was utterly disappointing. Of the hundreds of times I've had gnocchi in my life, this might have been the worst. We visited here about 8 years ago for pizza and it was a great experience. We returned a few years ago when we had family visiting Italy, and we were excited to take them to a castle to eat, but had an equally disappointing dining experience in the main restaurant. We assumed that the last visit was a fluke and gave them another chance because the atmosphere is so interesting. We will not be returning. The prices are twice that of any typical local restaurant, and the food is much, much, worse. They had a lovely bread plate, fresh flowers on the table, clean white linens, excellent service, and a one-of-a-kind setting, but none of that can compensate for a bad, overpriced meal. I hope that they can revamp their menu because it's truly a lovely setting, but I definitely do not recommend it."
