Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Malaspina Castle for its stunning panoramic views of the sea and mountains, and its rich historical architecture spanning centuries. The opportunity for free entry on Mondays and the informative guides are also highlighted as positives. However, some visitors have been disappointed by unexpected closures or limited opening hours, particularly during weekdays.

"This is an absolutely beautiful castle. While Massa is mostly known for the beaches the Castello Malaspina is a treasure you cannot miss.

It’s mostly open during the weekend and you need to walk quite a bit on a steep narrow road, but it’s totally worth it.

Inside you can see all the eras of the castle, from the oldest rocca (800 CE) and the newer castle (1500 CE).

Some of the internal rooms are frescoed but the real beauty are the ancient walls and fortifications with the breathtaking views of the sea and the mountains.

If you’re near Massa you MUST plan a visit here"

Andrea Olivato

"Very nice old castle, spectacular views and landscapes as to the mountains as to the Ligurian sea. Free entries on Mondays. Five minutes to walk from free parking."

Giedrius Markulis

"It is a pretty fortress, with a lot of attention to the measures for the Covid.
Also there are numerous marble decorations and beautiful views"
