"This is an absolutely beautiful castle. While Massa is mostly known for the beaches the Castello Malaspina is a treasure you cannot miss.
It’s mostly open during the weekend and you need to walk quite a bit on a steep narrow road, but it’s totally worth it.
Inside you can see all the eras of the castle, from the oldest rocca (800 CE) and the newer castle (1500 CE).
Some of the internal rooms are frescoed but the real beauty are the ancient walls and fortifications with the breathtaking views of the sea and the mountains.
If you’re near Massa you MUST plan a visit here"
