Visitors consistently praise MOOM Museo dell'Olio di Matera for its unique and educational experience, largely due to the passionate and knowledgeable owner, Severino. The guided tours and olive oil tastings are highlights, offering a deep dive into local traditions. Some guests wished for smaller purchase options for olive oil due to luggage limitations.
"Such a nice tour! The owner is very kind and makes sure you’re understanding all :) we learnt a lot about olive oil and also tasted it! I recommend this experience in Matera. We booked one day in advance via email.
My only recommendation would be maybe also sell olive oil 100ml, we were eager to buy but luggage limitations didn’t allow us as the bottles were bigger 🥲
Best of luck and thanks a lot!"

"A very unique experience all because of the gentleman that handles all the tour of the museum. Despite being a beautiful small place to learn a lot, his curiosities and the very visible desire to demonstrate us details was great.
I would recommend to see for pre reservation and you will be handled a tablet so there is nothing to be missed. We also bought small cans of olive oil that made all worth it."
