Prossima fermata: Merano Meran! L’Alto Adige continua a stupire con le sue bellissime stazioni e la loro ottima posizione. Un grande peccato la chiusura della sala d’attesa, una scelta senza senso in una zona dove il freddo la fa da padrona. “You’ve made it to Bolzano — now just a little left.” Head to the main station → take the train direzione Merano. Hop on, relax, and enjoy the view of the mountains. Get off at Bolzano Sud / Fiera — and you’re there. If you’re coming by FlixBus, good news: it stops right in front of Fiera Messe. Arriving by car? Reviews Summary

Merano Train Station is praised for its central location and the immediate, stunning mountain views upon arrival. Visitors appreciate the architectural details and its role as a gateway to local attractions and hiking areas via efficient bus connections. However, some find the station's amenities lacking, with specific complaints about the waiting room closure and inconsistent service at the on-site bar.

"Small functional station centrally located in Merano.
When you get off the train , you are immediately assaulted by the immensely beautiful mountains surrounding Merano.
The area around the stations is loaded with parks planted with flowers and semi-tropical palms and plants. Beautiful!!!
A short shady tree lined walk into downtown takes 15-20 minutes.
A slightly shorter walk heading SE will take you to the river which you can follow north back into town.
Trains run regularly between Bolzano and Merano."

"Right outside the train station is where you find the bus interchange that service Merano .

I was there for SASA BUS 1A which brings you to Merano 2000 Ropeway .

At the bus interchange, you’d find a Well laid out map to to tell you where each bus stops, or which bus berth to head for to get onto the right bus.

It’s my first time here and had no problem finding the bus berth as long as you know which bus you’re headed for.

Drivers mostly speak German and Italian , and can be unapproachable and unhelpful , just as I experienced.

Otherwise, simple bus station, with clean buses!"

"This station is a small gem. Don’t just use it as a station. Take 10 minutes and have a look at some of its Liberty / Art Nouveau architectural features. Put it in its context and timeframe: the station is part of HUGE renovations and add ons the city received in a matter of just a few years. From the last years of 1800 to around 1910, Merano saw the building of some very important infrastructures: a new Catholic and Jewish cemetery, 2 wonderful bridges on the river, a theatre, the station itself, the main post office and others I can’t remember now. All this for a tiny town, but with an enormous importance for tourism! So, now you know why you should look at a simple station with a bit more depth. There's a bar: have a look at some of its 70's furniture. Have a beer or a coffee and sit outside: you're facing the tracks, under the nice roof; it's quiet and you watch passengers come and go... it's almost a small time travel experience."
