What’s the BEST museum to visit here in Milan? I’m 23 years old and prefer cool art museums with distinct art , not necessarily a museum full of just portraits. Thanks ahead ~ 💖

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the Casa Museo Boschi di Stefano for its stunning collection of 20th-century Italian art housed within a beautifully preserved Art Deco apartment. The intimate atmosphere and unique interactive events, like the 'Murder Mystery' nights, are frequently highlighted as exceptional experiences. Some find the limited opening hours or the need to book special events in advance a minor inconvenience.
"I had a wonderful experience in this Casa-museo. It's one of Milano's hidden gems! Even though there were no other visitors while I was there, this museum offers an intimate and rich experience surrounding art.
Every room tells a story, from the paintings to the artworks to the furniture, everything is unique and magnificent.
The people who work there are very friendly and don't hesitate to give information about the house itself, enriching the visit.
What impressed me the most was the green chandelier at the entrance. The nice lady explained to me that its green color is due to arsenic pigmentation! Which is still very dangerous!
This place really allowed me to escape the noise and crowds of Milan!"

"The architect of the building was the same as the one who designed the Villa Necchi Campiglio: Piero Portaluppi known for his modernist Art Deco style.
Beautiful small flat that contained more than 300 works of 20th Century Italian art. There was one room dedicated to Fontana, furniture by Sironi, ceramics by the former lady owner, art deco doors and windows, and beautiful Murano glass lamps.
Like at Villa Necchi there were passionate and knowledgeable volunteers around to talk to you about the flat, artwork, furniture etc. Kudos to them!"

"Absolutely stunning! The people there are so friendly and helpful. It is absolutely free and they provide you with an audio guide through a qr code. It's small, but the selection is very tasteful and some of the works were just amazing (I especially loved the post-war art). The place also seems quite empty (there was only another guy and me throughout my visit) so you get to enjoy it to the fullest. Absolutely worth taking a detour for."

The Art Collection: A Private Vision
What makes this collection particularly special is its preservation within the original apartment. Unlike many public museums, the art here is displayed as it was in the couple's private life, offering a unique perspective on how art can be integrated into domestic spaces. This approach provides a more personal and relatable experience for visitors, allowing them to feel a connection to the art and its former owners. The intimate scale of the museum means you can truly immerse yourself in the works without feeling overwhelmed by vast halls.
Beyond the famous names, the collection also highlights lesser-known but equally important artists, providing a comprehensive overview of the era. The thoughtful arrangement of pieces within the Art Deco interiors enhances their impact, creating a dialogue between the art and its surroundings. It’s a journey through Italian creativity, presented with elegance and personal flair.
An Art Deco Gem: The Residence
Walking through the rooms, you'll notice the original furnishings, decorative elements, and even the lighting fixtures, all contributing to an authentic atmosphere. The attention to detail is remarkable, from the inlaid wood floors to the custom-designed furniture. This preservation allows visitors to understand how the Boschi di Stefano couple lived and how they envisioned their art being displayed within their home. It’s a rare opportunity to see a private residence of this caliber maintained so faithfully.
The harmonious blend of art and architecture is a key feature of the museum. The Art Deco setting doesn't just serve as a backdrop; it actively enhances the viewing experience, creating a cohesive and immersive environment. It’s a place where design, art, and history converge, offering a unique cultural experience in the heart of Milan.
Immersive Events: Beyond the Traditional Museum Visit
